Privy Journal is a native Android journaling app. You can write entries yourself, or talk with an on-device AI companion that turns the conversation into a journal entry for you โ all without an internet connection, and without your words ever leaving your phone.
Open the app and talk through your day like you would with a friend. Privy Journal's on-device AI asks a few thoughtful follow-up questions, then writes a polished journal entry from the conversation โ so journaling doesn't require staring at a blank page.
Every entry โ written by hand or with Talk โ is saved to a private, on-device timeline. Insights surfaces mood trends, streaks, and "on this day" throwbacks, all computed locally from your own entries.
A short, AI-generated reflection built from patterns in your own journal over time โ a small daily mirror, not generic advice.
A library of guided prompts and prompt packs for when you want direction instead of a blank page or an open-ended chat.
The defining decision behind Privy Journal is that every bit of AI processing โ the Talk conversation, entry writing, mood analysis, and Today's Truth โ runs entirely on your phone, using a downloaded open-weight language model (see our Privacy Policy for the exact models used per tier). Nothing you write is ever sent to our servers, an AI company's servers, or anyone else's, because there's no server in that loop at all.
A free account (email/password or Google Sign-In) is required to use the app, so you can securely access your data and, if you choose, back it up. Journal content itself stays local by default; optional Google Drive backup uses the narrowest permission Google offers โ access to only the single backup file the app itself creates, nothing else in your Drive.
Privy Journal is currently in private testing ahead of a Google Play release. If you're testing a build, the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are linked below and in the footer.
